Welcome to my world.
I hate talking about myself, but here goes anyway.
I guess the 3 things that define me most are:
- Being a father
- Lifting weights
Being a Father
I think we all know how important parenting is. It’s the toughest job in the world. You have someone’s life in your hands, and you’re shaping the way they’ll see and interact with the world for the rest of their lives. Did I mention it comes with no manual, no schooling, and no “best practices”? Scary stuff, and to say this hasn’t made me who I am and that it hasn’t shaped my worldview would be the furthest thing from the truth.
Lifting weights is not simply for cosmetic or health reasons. For me, it’s more about mastering the physical self. I believe that before you can master other things, you must first master your physical self. Mastery of the physical self is truly a lost art. We tend to fall prey to bad food and inactivity, which creates a perpetual cycle of sickness and powerlessness.
Writing (and the intense study of life that comes along with it)
Writing is not just my creative outlet, but a tool I use to learn more about the world we live in and a way I can help others understand it.
What I really want to know is:
Who are we at our core?
What makes is human, and what is our purpose (and how can we fulfill this purpose)?
When will we fully understand ourselves?
Where did we come from, and where are we going?
Why does the world look like it does?
How can we find meaning in life and live it to it’s fullest?
In other words, I’m a student of life, and everything I learn shows up in my writing.
